• Question: do you think that one day global warming will happen?

      It’s happening now! The earth is slowly warming up. You used to be able to ice skate on the Thames in Tudor times. The question is whether we can try to reverse this process. Unfortunately a lot of our politicians would rather argue about whether the earth is warming and whether it’s the fault of humans instead of trying to fix it 🙁

      Unfortunately, global warming is already happening. It has been happening for the past ~100 years, and it is getting worse, rapidly. We are already seeing the negative impacts of it, with melting ice caps, more extreme weather, sea levels rising. So, it’s not a matter of when, but a question of how bad it will get. It could be really bad if our governments don’t do something soon. Unfortunately, action requires that companies take responsibility for the pollution that they cause, and they don’t want to do that.

      It’s already happening! Global warming is a natural phenomenon that has been going on for millions of years and the Earth’s global temperature fluctuates naturally over time. We are currently in an ‘ice house’ technically, which means that the average temperature is still cooler than it has been in the past.

      The big issue around global warming though is that as much as it is an entirely natural thing, the presence of us as humans is speeding up the warming effect on the planet by what we do to the planet. It’s heating up much quicker now that it has done in the past and that is what has people worried.

      Most scientists believe that Global Warming is actually already happening, and that it is now too late to stop it. We can only reduce its consequences in the future, but not avoid it altogether — we have pumped too many pollutants in the atmosphere already!

      This is very sad and in the future many people will suffer a lot because of the consequences of global warming (flooding, extreme weather, draughts, lack of crops, lack of water, etc).
