When I was little, I wanted to be a lawyer, mostly just because my father was one. But I realised I wanted to be a scientist by the time I was 15 or so.

When I was growing up I wanted to be a lot of different things – a doctor, a vet, etc. Always science based though. When I was about 13 I realised that I really wanted to do physics and science though

For a while I wanted to be a journalist, or a writer.

But now as a scientist I’ve been able to do a bit of those other jobs, as well. I have written many articles for science magazines, and recently I have written a book about the universe. My book is a little different than any other book you might have read, though. It’s written using only the most common 1000 words in English! I chose to do it this way so that I was forced to use only simple words that everybody can understand to talk about complicated things about the Universe (oh, BTW, “Universe” is not one of the allowed words!).

I think I’ve always wanted to be either a scientist or an astronaut Given that I am now a scientist working on planetary science, I am pretty close to both of those things and I’ve not yet given up on getting to be an astronaut!
