      In a sense, yes, but not like CSI. Sometimes, when some cases are very complicated and the tribunal cannot make up their mind on something scientific, they call in experts to help them understand the science.

      I have worked in the past as “expert witness” — that’s a scientist that gets called to give evidence in court about matter he is an expert on. It’s great fun, because it’s a bit like being in one of those TV movies! But it also carries great responsibility, because you have to make sure that whatever you say is absolutely right: the decision of the court often depends on it.
