• Question: If you could solve one thing in the world, what would it be? And why?

      If I could solve one thing, I would like to find out if life exists on other planets, and especially if intelligent life has evolved there. Finding life (especially intelligent life) on other planets would revolutionise of understanding of the universe, and our sense of place within it.

      If I could solve one thing on the world it would be something practical like making sure everyone has clean water for free, or curing disease.

      I would find a way to give clean, safe drinking water to everybody on the planet.

      We often don’t realize how precious water is, just because it flows out of our taps without too much effort for us. But a billion people on Earth do not have access to drinking water, and that is a huge problem.

      I think it would be pretty great to be able to end wars. There are always so many people dying as a result of fighting over things that could almost definitely be solved another way. Imagine what humanity could achieve if we all worked together on improving each others lives and finding out new things, instead of arguing and fighting all the time!

      There are so many important things that need to be solved for the better of humankind and I suppose the answer depends on how humanitarian you want to be! Curing disease or making sure everyone has access to clean water and enough food to support themselves would be right up there on that side of things but I also think it’s important to keep pushing the boundaries of science as well. Finding life elsewhere in the universe would be fantastic or discovering where life originated from in the first place would also be great!
