• Question: What was the first thing that you learnt about a black hole?

      I’m not sure! I was interested in black holes when I was quite young, so I think I knew a few basic things then, like the fact that light can’t escape from them because their gravity is too strong. I didn’t get taught much about them until I went to university though, then one of the first things I learnt was how they’re (sometimes) made when really big stars die. Then later I learnt the more complicated stuff about how they bend space nearby, because of Einstein’s theory of relativity.
