• Question: What's at the bottom of the ocean?

      Some very odd creatures I think! These have evolved without light and sometimes live near active underwater volcanoes so they’ve adapted to their environment really well.

      The ocean floor is largely just a barren place, with many metres of silt and very few life forms. However, there is life down there. When an animal dies near the surface, it often sinks all the way down to the bottom. Once there, crabs, eels, worms, sharks, and weird animals can “smell” it from miles away, and they all rush there to get a meal.

      In other parts of the ocean you have vast mountain ranges, huge canyons, and even volcanos!

      Along with everything already mentioned, you’d also find a lot of meteorites down there! We have ~60,000 meteorites on Earth already and with so much of the Earth’s surface covered in water, imagine how many could be down there that we don’t know anything about…
