      Electricity wasn’t really invented as it is a natural thing; it was first observed by the ancient Egyptians who noticed that some fish could give off a small shock (electric fish), but it was first properly investigated by scientists in the 17th century. An English scientist, William Gillbert, was one of the first to properly describe it and do experiments.
