Dreaming is a way that our brains use to process the information and experiences that we’ve had during the day. There are still a lot of mysteries about dreaming, but we know that almost all mammals dream (i’m not sure about fish, reptiles and amphibians), so it seems to be a very important part of the function of the brain.

We dream because our brain has to learn about and think about everything we have learned in a day. This is why we sometimes have scary dreams if we are worried about things

I think dreaming is just our brain’s way of processing everything that it has experienced during the day whilst getting some rest! I believe most animals do it as well so clearly we need to be doing it at night, even if we can’t always remember what we were dreaming about…

We don’t know for sure — some people believe it’s a way by which our brain elaborate the conscious experiences of the day, a bit like cleaning up you hard disk when you get too many files on it.
